Cagliari vs Milan - Highlights 0:2

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Milan continued with their pressure on Juventus going top of the table after defeating Cagliari. If Juventus win they go back on top, but for now, Milan occupy top spot.

Check out the highlights below

Liverpool's Alberto Aquilani to head to AC Milan

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Alberto Aquilani, perhaps the most underrated player in the all of the Premier League, looks set to leave Liverpool yet again to Italy as AC Milan secure his services for the upcoming season.
Aquilani will head to Milan on a loan deal where he will serve as the replacement for Juventus signing Andrea Pirlo.

Last season, Aquilani also played in the Serie A with Turin side Juventus. During his time at Juventus, Aquilani made a great impact in the midfield, proving to be one of their best players in the 2010-2011 season.

However, in an absurd act, Juventus did not choose to permanently sign Aquilani, rather letting him return to Liverpool.

Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli commented on the Aquilani move:
"I want to pay tribute to the way Alberto has conducted himself during these discussions...Throughout the entire process, his only desire has been to play football and he has put this ahead of any other considerations and at personal cost to himself. We wish him well for the season ahead."

Aquilani has failed to make an impact at Liverpool, mainly due to the constant run of injuries he had during his time at the club. Performances would indicate he is fit to play in the Liverpool starting XI, but it just wasn't to be for the former Roma man.

Supercoppa Italiana: AC Milan vs. Inter Milan Player Ratings

Sunday, August 7, 2011

In what was a great curtain raiser for the upcoming Serie A season, I will take a look at how I think the respective players from each side of Milan performed. All scores are out of 10, with a perfect 10 denoting the best individual performance I have ever seen in a football match.

AC MILAN
Player Rating Goals + Cards Minutes Played
Christian Abbiati 6 0;0 90 minutes
Gianluca Zambrotta 6 0;1 yellow 90 minutes
Alessandro Nesta 6 0;0 90 minutes
Thiago Silva 6.5 0;0 90 minutes
Ignazio Abate 6 0;0 90 minutes
Clarence Seedorf 7 0;0 90 minutes
Mark van Bommel 6 0;0 90 minutes
Gennaro Ivan Gattuso 5 0;1 yellow 75 minutes
Kevin-Prince Boateng 7 1 goal;1 yellow 82 minutes
Zlatan Ibrahimovic 7.5 1 goal;0 90 minutes
Robinho 5.5 0;0 62 minutes
Urby Emanuelson >10min 0;0 8 minutes
Massimo Ambrosini >10min 0;1 yellow
15 minutes
Alexandre Pato 7 0;0 28 minutes

Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Very quiet in the first half, except for a header that ended up hitting the post. In the second half however, he was on fire. He played brilliant interchange passing with the likes of Robinho, Seedorf and Boateng. Ended up scoring the goal to equalise, eventually taking Milan to victory. Great start to the season for the Sweedish International

INTER MILAN
Player Rating Goals + Cards Minutes Played
Julio César 6.5 0;0 90 minutes
Cristian Chivu 5
0;0 90 minutes
Walter Adrian Samuel 6

Andrea Ranocchia 6 0;0 90 minutes
Ricardo Gabriel Álvarez 7 0;0 63 minutes
Thiago Motta 6

Dejan Stankovic 6

Javier Adelmar Zanetti 5.5
0;0 90 minutes
Eto'o 6
0;0 90 minutes
Wesley Sneijder 7.5
1 goal;1 yellow 90 minutes
Marco Faraoni 6 0;0 27 minutes
Giampaolo Pazzini 6 0;0 16 minutes
Luc Castaignos >10mins
0;0 8 minutes

Wesley Sneijder: What a free kick! Sneijder looked to be having a phenomenal game in the first half. Seemingly untouchable as he guided Inter around the park. At times he had up to five Milan defenders on him. A little quieter in the second half, but still a force to be reckoned with. Don't be surprised to see Inter add an extra few million euros to his price tag after that goal.

Final Score: AC Milan 2:1 Inter Milan
Still much work to be done by both sides but positive signs on both ends.
What did you think of the ratings? Did you agree with them?

Milan look to further add to their attack - Hulk

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Supreme talent, and Porto forward Hulk has attracted the attention of Serie A leaders AC Milan. The Brazilian is one of the most potent attacking forces in all of Europe and a he would not be out of place in Milan's star studded forward line.

With Ibrahimovic's loan deal coming to an end, Hulk could be the perfect replacement for the expensive Ibra. However the Swede was instrumental behind Milan's climb to the top and Milan would be keen to possibly permanently sign the frontman. Hulk has recently been pursued by the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City and in the end Porto will look to squeeze the highest price out of their superstar, who is still in contract with the club.

Porto will want to quell all rumours until they complete their campaign in the Europa league. The Portugese side are amongst the favourites to take out the title, and if so may want to hold on to Hulk for the Champions League.

Could Ronaldo be on the move....... again?

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

He's won next to nearly everything a top level player could want (except a World Cup), but Ronaldo still wants more. This time its Milan calling the 80 million dollar man. With Silvio Berlusconi stating that he would love to have Ronaldo at Milan, and considering the number of stars that the Rossoneri have lured to Milan, Ronaldo would not seem out of place.

The Portugese attacker has certainly made his mark at Madrid scoring 54 goals in 57 appearances. But Madrid would be very reluctant to let go, especially if Los Blancos are not delivered a Champions League title this year, or a La Liga title for that matter.

In the summer Milan had completed a move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but his time could be up at the end of this season, since he was only secured on a loan deal. This could make way for Ronaldo who could easily slot into his position.

Ronaldo has stated that he is very much at home in Madrid and enjoys playing in the La Liga. Coach Jose Mourinho was quoted midweek as saying "if Ronaldo moves, I will move too, but not with him". Mourinho was linked with a return to Inter but these claims were quickly rubbished.

Madrid sit second on the table, far adrift from Barcelona who look to have secured the La Liga. Their focus is on the Champions League where they are ever so close to qualifying for the Semi Finals, which would set up a historic clash with Barcelona.

Andrea Pirlo in Juventus move?

Sunday, February 20, 2011

Midfield maestro Andrea Pirlo has been linked with a possible move to Juventus fromlong time rivals Ac Milan.

The news comes as Pirlo's contract with the Rossoneri comes to an end, and with an influx of new signings the 31 year old looks to be on the out. Giuseppe Marrotta tried to quell the rumour however recent sightings of Juventus scouts at Milan games would suggest otherwise.

Prilo has been linked with clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United also. He has been in stellar form this year guiding Milan to a seemingly untouchable state at the top of the Serie A. With the rumours that midfield workhorse Mohammad Sissoko may be on the way out, Pirlo would serve as a suitable replacement alongside hard man Felipe Melo or possibly Alberto Aquilani.

If the deal goes ahead Juventus would sign Pirlo on a free contract as his contract is at it's end at the conclusion of the 2010/2011 season.

No word has been heard yet from Pirlo's camp, and many Milanista would be happy to see him stay to help guide the young guns of the new look Milan side.

Italian Serie A January transfer window roundup

Saturday, January 15, 2011

We take a look at the clubs looking to make a move for a player, and those looking to offload those not performing very well.

Ac Milan: Milan have already made a move and have successfully signed Antonio Cassano from Sampdoria on a free loan deal. However with a lengthy injury to Silva, Milan may just sign a centre back to help fill in the ranks. Van Bommel has been at the top of Milan's wish list.

Inter Milan: Once again Inter look to spend little on the market. Although the defending Italian Champions are also in the hunt for Van Bommel. Inter continue to cultivate their youth and alot of young buys may be on the cards including Luc from Feyenoord. An audacious comment about bringing Ac Milan's Pato to the otherside of Milan look to have gone astray.

Juventus: The Turin giants have a string of injuries to deal with this season. Especially upfront where only two of their 6 strikers are fit. Juventus have been linked with a host of big forwards including Suarez and Benzema. They have also been in the hunt for a right back and that looks to almost be complete with the club confirming that they are in talks with Barzagli of Wolfsburg. It also looks like Juve will be offloading some under performers including Amauri and maybe Grosso.

Roma: Roma have loaned Cincinho to Villarreal just recently and will look to replace the Brazillian. Vucinic has also been tipped to leave the club. With growing German interest the right sum of money could see him leave Rome. Julio Baptista has left Roma so they to may be looking for some fire power upfront. Fiorentina hitman Alberto Gilardino has been tipped as a possible replacement.

Napoli: Napoli are trying to cement their position in the Serie A top four. Although interest in their stars Hamsik and Lavezzi may just prevent them from doing this. Interest from Juventus in the Slovakian and Premier League interest in the Argentinian may just see a large sum of money arrive at Napoli this January.

Palermo: Javier Pastore has been valued at 80 million by his club, nevertheless interest from Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona is still present. Pastore has guided Palermo to a strong league position. They are very keen on holding on to the young superstar.

There looks to be much movement in the Serie A this January and Play the Advantage will try and ensure that you hear about every move as it happens. If you are looking for news for smaller Italian clubs let us know and we will take a look deeper into the Transfer window.

News from La Liga in the coming days.

Ronaldinho to join Flamengo

Sunday, January 9, 2011

Former Brazilian international and Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho is set to leave European football and head back to his home country of Brazil. The current Milan attacker has never fully re-captured his form that made him probably the best player in Europe a few years ago.

Ronaldinho has apparantly signed a contract with Brazilian side Flamengo, contrary to rumours he sign for the club he idolised as a young boy Gremio. The details, including payment aren't yet finalised, but the Milan man has agreed to a significant wage cut, to do like so many other Brazilians and reutrn home.

Ronaldinho will leave Milan by the end of the January transfer window.

Leonardo handed the reigns at Inter

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

The worst kept secret in European football has been announced, as Inter look to recover from a disasterous start to the 2010/2011 installment of the Italian Serie A.

Former Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez was shown the door last week as Massimo Moratti (Inter Club President) confirmed that he had lost the trust of the players and the board alike. Benitez who had complained on numerous occasions that the transfer funds made avaliable to him at the start of the season were insufficient to cater for a big name signing, had threatened to quit mid way through the first half of the season.

New coach Leonardo, formerly coach of Ac Milan across town, has already stated his claims, saying that he will aim to make a number of big name signings during his time and especially during the approaching January transfer window.

After finishing third in the Serie A last year with Milan Leonardo will look to steer Inter to another title, although his former team Milan will do everything to stop him from continuing Inter's run of successive titles.
